There is something very fun and satisfying about updating a fanfic that hasn't seen an updated in years. XD

Earlier I updated Cade, an old Teen rated SpikeBee Transformers: Shattered Glass fanfic that's old enough that it's on both Fanfiction.net and AO3.

Though in this particular case, I've had the chapter handwritten for a while (like...a year?) and forgot about it. LOL.

As much as I love my new system of handwriting chapters first and then typing them later, it does mean I have a lot of things sitting that are probably ready to be typed...that I haven't.

Writing it out by hand tricks my brain into thinking it's "done" and then I forget about it.

Oops.

But, the final quality is better because I edit as I type and that end result is usually worth being scatterbrained about what I have and haven't finished up. XD

In my early fandom days, I used to role play a lot with a friend in Skype. We'd start talking about a scenario between characters and then it would turn into a full back and forth as we each played a character. One of them got so intense I turned it into a fanfiction series [The Cliffs of Delphi Victorian AU for the Transformers IDW MTMTE comics].

I even tried to role play a little bit on Tumblr for Transformers OCs, though it didn't last long. [Silver Gun and Citizen Backfire are both still there if you want to look at archives.]

Role Playing is one of those things that I enjoyed, but also had a hard time connecting with people to do. I had no idea what I was doing when I was around people who hard-core role played online. Lol.

I have been browsing around a little bit at Dreamwidth roleplaying communities, and they honestly look like a lot of fun.

But again, I have no idea what I'm doing or where to start, or even if I'd want to do Fandom Role Play or Original (This is a lie, I'd rather do Fandom Role Play. Lol. If I'm writing original, I need to be working on my novels. XD).

Part of me just wants to start my own Role Play community and put whatever I want there. But then I need people to come join me to actually role play with. XD

Fun times.

Me: *stares at my 35+ works in progress, fanfic only not counting original stuff I really need to work on*
Me: *continues to stare*

Time Passes

Me: Yeah, I don't want to work on any of these for some reason.

This is my mood all the time and I'd like to change that. XD

It's always fun looking through the WIP you've posted on AO3/FF.net and seeing 10 year old on-going stories that only have one chapter. Lol.

That's what happens when you post all finished chapters, regardless of plans to continue or for the next chapter. XD

I don't regret posting any of those stories--oh, no.

I'm very happy with the chapters I posted and I'd be delighted if anyone read them, unfinished or not.

But still. It is amusing to know if I ever go back to them it'll be like "So, it's been ten years since the last update..."

Which honestly isn't that bad. I've had 8 years between updates before, so it's not like that's new.

Oh, the joys of writing.

Summary: While taking down a Villain, Katsuki saves a familiar face and finds himself reunited with his amicable-ex, Daiki. As it turns out, neither of them have moved on as much as they’d thought.

You know, I legitimately forgot Izuku vs the Garden Boy was on FF.net. LOL. Which is funny, because it's legitimately pretty popular over there with 200 favorites and 100 reviews. If I would have remembered that, I might have rated the story Teen again...but Daiki wanted a higher rating, so I guess only the folks who have my AO3 get the sequel (I post more there these days anyway...).

Yeah, so that sequel I started last night? I finished the first chapter at like 2:00 a.m. this morning and Daiki’s “I’m Getting Katsuki Back” story is officially a go. Lol.

There’s like a page worth of author’s notes on the story, so I might as well repeat some of them here (aka just the overall notes, not the chapter notes):

I finished Izuku vs the Garden Boy in 2018, and I kid you not, Daiki has been screaming at me for a sequel ever since I hit “Submit” on that last epilogue chapter. I created Daiki to be a disposable character (someone I didn’t have to feel bad that they “lose” to Deku), but as the story developed and he turned into his own fully-fleshed out character with feelings and agency that ending was much harder to write than it should have been.
After Garden Boy finished, I wanted to write Daiki an “Apology” fic as a sequel to give him a win, too. I considered Daiki x Shouto, but that boy was in love with Katsuki. Truly and deeply (enough to let Katsuki go when he saw Katsuki liked Deku).
I held back because most of the ideas Daiki (or rather, the Muse) gave me were short and sexy one-shots without much plot. He also couldn’t make up his mind about whether or not he wanted to date Shouto instead, get Katsuki back (aka, switch the roles from Izuku vs Garden Boy), share with Deku, seduce Katsuki into cheating, or if they just ended up in a threesome. Heck, I couldn’t even decide whose POV I wanted this story to be from. Ideas lingered and nothing happened aside from little daydreams in my head about heated moments and drama.
However, as I was glancing through Garden Boy again today (it’s still one of my favorite stories), Daiki finally said “I still want my sequel. May I have it please?” And since I’m writing this, I guess 2020 is the year Daiki gets what he wants and this author indulges in some Main Character X OC fic once more.

The year of “I’m writing whatever the heck I want” 2020 continues.

(Though the theme mostly seems to be “resurrecting old stories” lol.)

I will say one thing about AO3, I like that it allows me to see how many actual bookmarks there are on a fic from the statistics page.

Because the Statistics page count includes Private & Hidden bookmarks. So stories I think aren't that popular...have like an extra hundred private bookmarks.

And then I remember the fics that tend to have the most Hidden book marks are the A/B/O ones. Lol. And I'm like "Right. Some people don't want others to know they read those fics."

Heck, I was one of them for a bit (but it wasn't just A/B/O - it was any E-Rated fic).

So, not judging the private bookmarks. Just amused. XD

(I remembered to post something today! Huzzah! I do check my reading page every day lol. I just forget to write things here.)

It continues to baffle me that A Mate's Worth has nearly 7.000 Kudos.

It's ruined my sense of what a "normal" amount of kudos for a work should be. XD

But on the flip side, I'm still excited that Izuku vs The Garden Boy broke 2,000 kudos, because that was my first...real venture into OC x Main Character territory and it was a success. o-o

I've gotten to the point in my Fanfic Flashback crossposting adventures where I've got stuff that's already been posted in more than one place. So I'm having to search my archive for well...if I've posted it before.

Thankfully I can search by my tags to see if these things are already up or not.

Though it is wild to find stuff I've crossposted to Fanfiction.net but not Archive of Our Own. It goes to show me how much my mindset has changed because these days I'm likely to only post to Archive of Our Own and nowhere else. XD

Heck, this entire crossposting extravaganza is to get everything on AO3. XD

I might also need to find time to post my old Meta Essays later. Archive of Our Own welcomes though and I was proud of a lot of them (Like my stupidly long essay about how Tron: Uprising is a show about Beck or some Megastar long posts).

Why does it never want to work on the fics that I want to work on.

Why..........

So many things I want to update but it wants to work on something else. XD Every time.

Every.

Time.

It happened! I have posted over 2 million words to Archive of Our Own! :D

I'm still working on crossposting all my Tumblr drabbles, but it still feels crazy to have written that many words of fanfic since 2005...and know there's still more I haven't posted (and some I likely never will because they're have formed stories from when I was like thirteen).

I feel proud and happy. :D

On the bright side...I think I’m done crossposting all my FFnet fics!! :D All I have left now is to do some clean up (standardizing how I crossposted to AO3, making sure the dates are right, etc.) and then I can start working on crossposting all my Tumblr drabbles.
That’ll take an eternity and a half, but it’ll be satisfying when I’m done, even if barely anyone looks at all my old stuff over there. :D

I filed this fic under “I had maybe two or more chapters left to go but it’s been over ten years and I can’t remember what I wanted to do.”
Chapter 10 (the last chapter posted) has a grand declaration that I would finish it, but um. I guess it gets to keep waiting.
But in the meantime, it is one of my best Horror pieces. I still think it’s worth reading for the angst and horror, even if it’s left hanging (like a true horror fic).

This is a weird dark humor piece where Scarecrow kidnaps Wayne, drugs him, and has his way with the man off screen.

I’m not going to rehash my long notes on the fic here, but long story short:

I wanted a new Long Fic to work on now that A Mate’s Worth is done and put a bunch of things into a Random Number Generator to get my prompt.

And I got a Vampire AU. Lol.

So far, so good though and I’m looking forward to working on it. :D

Wish me luck though, because one of the prompts was “Mutual Pining” for BakuDeku and that’ll be a thing for me (I write a lot of one-sided stuff…).

It feels so weird to be done with a long fic. It's finished. Like. I haven't done that in ages. XD

It probably could have rambled on for a bit longer, but it's nice to say that A Mate's Worth is now finished with a final word count of 98k.

And now there's a void in my life.

Despite having more works in progress than I can count, none of them are filling that particular romance/fluff/drama niche that this fic did, so I'm struggling to come up with something to replace it that I can work on.

("This would be a good time to work on your original writing again," I hear a muse say. But I ignore it. In favor of continuing my bad life decisions and need for comments.)
